About

Janet Nelson Moore

The inspiration for my series of still life paintings began at an early age when I watched my mid western father design, plant and cultivate his floral landscapes.  Staying in touch with nature and the design elements of color, texture and pattern are important to my work.  To date I cannot resist stopping at a flower stand to put together the perfect combination of blooms.  At the studio I rotate a spotlight on the arrangement and translate the still life to canvas.  A body of work was recently displayed at a local hospital as part of a healing arts program.  My hope then and now is that these floral still life paintings bring some connection with nature to all who see them.  Nature and visual art have the potential for bringing calm and reflection into our lives.

A native of Kansas City, Nelson Moore holds a BFA in painting and drawing from Southern Methodist University, in Dallas, TX. Her interest in modern contemporary themes in the arts were planted there through the study of Mattisse, O’Keeffe, Klee and Miro, Warhol, and others. Janet has called Centennial home for over twenty years. She taught art for many years in Aurora Public Schools and completed an MA in education from Regis University of Denver.

Janet’s work has been shown at Core New Art Space, Curtis Arts & Humanities Center, DAVA, The Niza Knoll Gallery, The CU Health Sciences Library Gallery, the McNichols Civic Center Building, Block 7 in BelMar, Arapahoe Community College, and the Gilpin County Fine Arts Center.

Additional examples of her work are available to view and purchase at Eve Boutique on Larimer Square in Downtown Denver. The most recent public display of her work was an installation at Parker Adventist Hospital as part of their Healing Arts Program. Porter Hospital will host her work as well in 2020. You are also invited to examine her line of Teddy Creative Productions coasters, cards, and giclee prints.

Janet is currently accepting commissions.

Please check out the Home Accessories page to the site as well.  In addition to fine art, interior design has always been a huge area of interest for me.  The offerings showcase contemporary themes in the form of hand painted pillows, totes, natural stone coaster sets and some nichos.
